Position Overview: The Morgridge College of Education at the University of Denver is dedicated to preparing educators who are skilled transformational leaders with a social justice perspective and a commitment to advocacy and empowerment for all learners. The College invites applicants for a faculty member who will serve as Director of Teacher Education. The Director is a full-time, 12-month, open rank tenure track position, Associate/Full preferred with advanced Assistant level to be considered. Teacher preparation is an integral part of the mission of the Morgridge College of Education (MCE), and is placed within a collaborative of P20 teacher and leadership preparation programs. The College currently supports multiple teacher preparation pathways, including a long-standing and reputable Teacher Education Program, a five-year dual degree program, a combined license and master’s degree program, and two Urban Teacher Residencies, including one of only three “legacy programs” that pioneered the approach in the nation. Our programs have a particular focus on preparing teachers for best practice in support of STEM, gifted and talented, English language learners, and special education areas. We seek an applicant with an established record of teaching, research, and visionary leadership in teacher education at the graduate and undergraduate levels. The successful applicant will have a commitment to equity and inclusive excellence, a strong record of collaborative and partnership work, successful experience with culturally and linguistically diverse populations, and an affinity for research-validated innovation in teacher education and professional development. Position Description: Working collaboratively across the College, the Director provides visionary leadership and coordination of MCE teacher education programs including licensure, undergraduate, master’s degree, and residency programs. The Director is responsible, in partnership with the division chair and assistant director, for program and policy leadership; adjunct faculty hiring, training, and professional development; district and school relationships; budget development and oversight; program evaluation and continuous improvement; review of student applications; certification of state licensure and endorsements requirements; and continued development and implementation of the programs. The Director also collaborates with the director of Admissions and Enrollment Services on student recruitment and enrollment. The Director is responsible for developing and maintaining good working relationships and high visibility for the program with school districts, community partners, and university constituencies. In addition to visionary leadership and administration of the program, the Director teaches courses in our P20 area; advises students; sits on doctoral dissertation committees; participates on the Dean’s Council; and serves on college-wide committees.

Required Minimum Qualifications: The successful candidate must hold an earned doctorate in the field of education or relevant area, and possess recent successful administrative experience.
Preferred/Desired Qualifications: The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal and communication skills; experience demonstrating a commitment to cultural and linguistic diversity; demonstrated success teaching adults; and visionary leadership. The preferred candidate will have experience working in urban public school settings; working with culturally and linguistically diverse learners; building and sustaining collaborative relationships with teachers and principals; a record of outstanding teaching and research at the university level; experience with collaborative leadership geared toward program transformation and curriculum innovation; experience teaching in K-12 settings; and a strong interest/expertise in one of more of the following areas: teacher education, English language learners, STEM education, special education, urban education, and gifted and talented education.
