Brief Description of Duties/Responsibilities:
The
normal teaching load is four courses per semester. The successful
candidate will be expected to teach on the undergraduate and graduate levels,
supervise student teachers, advise students, and serve
on department, school, and university committees. There are opportunities for
reassigned time devoted to scholarly research or creative activity.
Required Qualifications:
Earned doctorate in early childhood education or related
field at the time of appointment. Applicants must
show evidence of the ability to teach university level courses effectively,
ability to engage in meaningful scholarship/creative activity and show evidence
of experience in the field of early childhood.
Preferred Qualifications:
Earned
doctorate in Early Childhood Education or related discipline in education, expertise
in early literacy preferred. Candidates should have the equivalent
of two years experience teaching in early childhood settings, experience in
teaching early literacy, commitment to teacher education and the
profession; potential to contribute to effective partnerships with early
childhood/elementary schools and demonstrated ability to teach and mentor a
diverse student population; experience in student teacher supervision; and a
record of scholarship/creative activity.
