Assistant Professor of Educational/Instructional Technology

 

Starting Date:             August 2010, subject to final budgetary approval

Salary:            Commensurate with qualifications and experience

The University:     Northeastern Illinois University is a comprehensive, state-supported institution, located in the northwest section of Chicago.  It is eight miles from downtown Chicago and thirty minutes from O’Hare International Airport.  The university enrolls 12,000 commuter students.  NEIU has been ranked the most diverse university in the Midwest for several years by U.S. News and World Report and is a designated Hispanic Serving Institution.

Department:         The Department of Educational Leadership and Development is one of six departments in the College of Education at Northeastern Illinois University and prepares individuals to assume leadership roles in diverse school and community settings.  The department also provides support coursework for all majors in the College of Education in the foundations of education as well as in the preparation of middle school teachers. The College of Education is fully accredited by NCATE and all programs are approved by the Illinois State board of Education and/or their specialty professional associations.

Required

Qualifications:      Applicants must have an earned doctorate in Educational/Instructional Technology (or a closely related field); experience in P-12 schools and/or higher education; familiarity with ISTE/NETS and/or AECT standards and their use for course/program development; expertise with Web 2.0 applications, LiveText or similar electronic platforms as used in a teaching-learning environment; a commitment to preparing candidates for diverse educational and community settings.

Preferred

Qualifications:      Experience in teaching and developing undergraduate and/or graduate courses in educational/instructional technology; experience in developing and teaching online courses;  familiarity with accreditation requirements; experience in STEM integration and e-learning in education settings (P-12 and/or higher education);

Responsibilities:    Responsibilities include: teaching and advising undergraduate and/or graduate courses; developing new and revising current courses; collaborating with colleagues across the college and university related to technology education and interdisciplinary studies; developing and implementing a research agenda; participating in department, college, university, and community service.
