Faculty Specialist I: Elementary Teacher Education-Tenure Track

Major Duties

-Develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in elementary science and/or social studies teaching methods
-Provide leadership in design and operation of related clinical field experiences in local schools
-Engage in program assessment and evaluation to ensure quality and relevance related to program standards
-Participate in ongoing collaboratives with schools and communities in southwest Michigan, and provide support and service as appropriate
-Engage with and support teacher-education-related student organizations
-Provide service to the department, college, and university

 

Minimum Qualifications

-Doctorate or Educational Specialist in teacher education or related field
-At least 2 years of effective teaching in elementary and/or middle schools
-Leadership experience in curriculum development in elementary and/or middle schools

Desired Qualifications

-Experience related to elementary/middle school teacher education
-Evidence of effective site-based collaboration
-Knowledge of contemporary teaching approaches in elementary and middle school settings
-Additional expertise in: teacher education, in-service teacher development, use of technology in teaching, or academic service learning is preferred
