Anne Gayles Felton Scholarship

Dr. Anne Richardson Gayles-Felton is a distinguished and productive member of the Association of Teacher Educators. Dr. Gayles has a record of unceasing membership of over forty-five years of meritorious service to the association. She has also been affiliated with the Association of Student Teaching (AST) and the Southeastern Regional Association of Teacher Educators (SRATE) and the Florida Association of Teacher Educators (FATE).

The Anne Richardson Gayles-Felton Endowed Scholarship will be awarded to a secondary education undergraduate who shows promise not only as a prospective teacher but as a future teacher educator. The Association of Teacher Educators (ATE) and related foundation, the Leadership Foundation of Teacher Educators (LFTE) will administer the scholarship and select the recipient. The recipient will be announced at the ATE Annual conference.
 


Anne Gayles Felton Scholarship Recipients

The following individuals have received the Anne Gayles Felton Scholarship from the Leadership Foundation for Teacher Education (LFTE). 

2017 Alex Fischer Richardson, University of South Carolina Aiken

2016 Steve Holecz, Slippery Rock University

2015 Joseph Turner, West Chester University

2014 Rebecca Norelli, West Chester University


Details on the award and application procedures are as follows:

Anne Richardson Gayles-Felton Endowed Scholarship Application

1. Secondary Education Major enrolled in an accredited teacher education program

2. Nominated by an ATE member 3. Grade point average of B+ or better

4. Evidence and documentation of sustained 3 years of participation in a student organization which emphasizes teaching.  (Documented evidence may include pre-college organizations such as Future Teacher, Student Education Organizations, Young Educators Society, etc.)

5. Two letters of recommendation – one from university professor and one from a school based employee.  (School based employee may include teachers, principals, guidance counselors, coaches, deans, curriculum coaches, etc.)
Applications due July 15.
