Association of Teacher Educators Names New Executive Director

FAIRFAX, VA - ATE President Christie McIntyre is pleased to announce the appointment of Alisa Chapman as the next Executive Director of the Association of Teacher Educators. Dr. Chapman will replace David Ritchey who has been the longest serving Executive Director in the 100 year history of the Association of Teacher Educators. Dr. Ritchey will retire on March 31, 2020.

Alisa Chapman is an education policy consultant with twenty-five years of experience at local, regional, and state levels.  Her career has focused on developing and supporting quality educator preparation; building stronger programs, schools, and systems in education (P-20); and improving the opportunities and outcomes of the education pipeline.*  Prior to completing a year-long fellowship in Public Policy and the Global Research Institute at UNC Chapel Hill in January of 2018, Alisa served the University of North Carolina (UNC) System office; since 2011, as Vice President for Academic and University Programs where she had the responsibility of advancing efforts within the University to prepare more, higher quality teachers and school leaders for the public schools of North Carolina.

“The position of Executive Director with the Association of Teacher Educators (ATE) builds on my prior professional experience and aligns with my interest to serve in a strategic leadership role in education with national scope,” said Dr. Chapman.  “I am grateful for the opportunity to join the ATE team at an important time for such a uniquely positioned organization.”
